Industrial lanolin alcohol is the unsaponifiable fraction of lanolin, composed of a complex mixture of aliphatic alcohols (normal, branched iso, branched anteiso, structured diols) with a molecular weight of approximately 370. Industrial lanolin alcohol is a brown waxy solid in appearance. It has the ability to absorb large quantities of water and works as a water in oil emulsifier or secondary emulsifier to provide emulsion stability. Industrial lanolin alcohol finds use in waterproofing compounds, mould release agents, industrial hand cleansers, leather chemicals and industry greases.
