Australian wool market continued to fall sharply this week. The national supply did not exceed 40,000 packs, but it was 7,898 packs more than last week. The total supply is 36,042 packs. Fine merino wool fell the most, with 18.5 microns falling by 34-73 Australian cents at the fine MPG guide price. In addition, the prices of medium and coarse count wool, hybrid wool, edge wool and zero wool also fell, and AWEX East Market Index (EMI) fell by 20 cents (-1.6%) to close at 1,235 cents/kg. This year, the market fell for 12 weeks, with a cumulative decline of 239 Australian cents (-16.1%). At present, the EMI index has no upward trend. Compared with last week, the exchange rate of the Australian dollar strengthened by 0.62 against the US dollar, so the EMI US dollar price fell by 5 cents (-0.6%). Prices of 28 and 30 microns remained stable. It is worth noting that the price of 30 microns in the south remained stable at 297 Australian cents/kg. 28 microns is down 14 cents to 338 cents/kg, which is the level of October 1999. At present, the estimated supply next week is 35,881 packs.
